- Night Digger
« Night Digger » est une œuvre de suspense. Le film, lui même, que je n’ai pas vu, est un polar crépusculaire. Herrmann retrouve le style de ses partitions « policières », son énergie et son mystère.
Steven C Smith décritNone of Herrmann’s frustration is evident in his beautiful score for strings, harp, and solo harmonica, in which he explores a favorite theme, romantic alienation, against a Hitchcockian backdrop of psychological horror. (Allusions to the master abound in the film, both in its camera borrowings and black sexual humor.) Like Maura, trapped by guilt in the home of her tyrannical benefactor, Herrmann’s score is most eloquent in its muted passages of longing: the mournful viola d’amore soli, which capture the essence of Maura’s loneliness;
